Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

Lineup was released today.

The Weeknd, Eminem, & Beyonce to headline the 2018 festival.

I feel incredibly out of the loop when I look at the undercard for this lineup.

Anyone ever gone or going this year? Fun festival experience?

I've never been to Coachella and the thought of it is just less appealing than it would've been years ago.

I'm a terrible judge of lineups because I can pretty much always find something I like.

That said, this still looks good to me. I'd fuck with just about every headliner and first line below them. Good stuff in the small print, too.

Friday especially looks like my jam — Queen Vincent, SZA, War on Drugs, Vince Staples, Moses Sumney, Perfume Genius ...

If ACL looks like that, that's a hard pass for me for a 3-day. Miiiiiiiiiiiight would do Sunday to catch Perfect Circle and Eminem, but probably not.

Can't speak to it as I've never been, but doesn't look like my thing. Cheers to whoever digs those tunes though, some pretty big names throughout.

It's like an eyeglasses test the way the names get smaller and smaller.

I would like to go and take my boys. I know one would love it. I don't know much about the logistics of the festival though but it looks like an easy 3k out the door for three peeps.

The Weeknd and Eminem will be dope. I don't care for Beyonce but I would watch her performance.

The War on Drugs was the act I got most excited when I saw them on there.

Alt-J would be cool too. Bleachers is also a fun live act. I can take or leave everyone else.

If I lived in Southern Cal, I'd probably go one day just because it's an incredible festival (from what I remember) and good place to find new music. That said, what a boring lineup.

David Byrne is set to play there, too. He's got a new solo album coming out this year. I'd go to the show just for him.

An awful lot of rap artists. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, but rap is not what I usually think of when I hear about these large festivals.

I feel like I am 10 years too late on these festivals. I look back at the 05-09 runs of Bonnaroo & Coachella and it just looks so much more appealing.

If Coachella did single-day passes, I'd think about driving down for the day. But you have to buy a whole weekend, iirc.

Festival-wise for 2018, I'm also keeping my eye on whatever this big time fest in Colorado will be. I grew up in CO, so it's easy to go back.

I've been holding out for that as well. I'm 20 minutes down the road from the golf course. Would be super perfect.

Never heard of most of those acts. I imagine that people who typically attend Coachella would feel the same way when the look at a line up card for the Lockin' Festival,Peach Festival or Wanee festival, which are the types of festivals you would be more likely to find me at.

Lot of bad blood between the band members. Well, mostly towards DB. But they know very well if they did a reunion tour they would make bank. I think DB isn't hurting for money, maybe that's why. Plus he's always trying to do new creative stuff, I think he views TH as the past.

Because he doesn't need them. Most of the TH songs he plays sound better with the band he uses.

I've also heard Chris and Tina were fucking brutal to him during the time the band was together. I doubt DB wants to relive that shit, especially when he doesn't have to.

Fleet Foxes would be the only one who I'd want to see and I think I'd rather see them at their own concert, the rest of the lineup blows. Way too much rap!

Eminem doesn't perform much anymore. It's usually festivals.

The downside is most of his material in the past 15 years is

Yeah the lineup is not that juicy for a full weekend pass. I'm not a huge fan of festivals anymore anyway. I like them in theory but very rarely go to them. I feel I am too old for Coachella now.

Re: Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival

How did fucking Rex Orange County get his name right under the headliner?

Anyway, yeah, kind of a weak lineup but Frank is pretty awesome and I'm super bummed I won't be able to go. I am going to Lolla though so I'm holding out hope that he gets booked for that too. There's been a rumor around the last few months that Frank will be doing a small US tour leading up to his Coachella shows. Hope that's true and the tour gets announced soon.
