Just found out a woman me and a few of my co-workers aren't the fondest of got promoted to be our manager, effective today. Our boss had a conference call to announce it. I'm not sure if he picked up on it during the call, but the rest of us had absolutely nothing to say. Not even congrats. Just mostly silence except for him talking trying to get conversation going about the announcement.

This transition should be interesting, especially since we already butt heads a lot and now she's my superior. I give zero fucks about anything right now.

Nothing I can do about it now, but we were hoping they'd bring anyone else in to be in this position. We didn't even care if they were less qualified from the business background perspective, but a better talent from a manager perspective. This chick has never been a manager, so her ability to lead and develop is pure shit (micro-manages pretty much everything she's in charge of, which is already a bad start).

both people on either cube side of me are always on the phone struggling with customer service people for one reason or another. I'm talking at least once a week, and it's never just "oh I forgot my password" and takes 2 minutes. it's always a 15-minute-long hassle

what are these people doing day to day that they have this many complicated issues that customer service needs to deal with? I think the last time I called a form of customer service was 8 months ago. don't remember ever raising my voice at a rep, or needing to

Micromanagers are the fucking worst people to work for. The new manager bitch that was appointed (I brought her up earlier in this thread) is a nightmare. She just sent out expectations that we are to e-mail her every morning with our agenda for the day so she can keep track of progress on our testing (and passive-aggressively babysit us because she's one of those cunts who clearly feels we're well beneath her). She also wants weekly 1:1 meetings, and then weekly team meetings. We literally sit in the same row, we are available for status updates at any time. It's just a big blur of redundancy.

If we want to work from home, we need prior approval 48 hours before the day we want to work from home and the reasons for needing to be connected remotely and what we expect to accomplish. So if you're hacking up a lung one morning and want to stay home in favor of not disrupting those around you, but still capable of working, she'll probably make you take PTO instead of logging in remotely. I haven't confirmed that last comment, but I wouldn't be shocked.

I don't like work environments where the management has zero trust in its employees. This is fucking nonsense.

The nonsense discussed above has hit levels that have me considering just flat out quitting my job. On top of her being a bumbling idiot with no qualifications to be a manager or make decisions at this level of risk assessment, we've entered unethical and fraudulent territory. We're being instructed to flat out ignore corporate risk policy and just sort of make shit up as we go along to doctor results on reviews we have performed to make them look better. No idea why, since the findings don't impact us, they impact the line of business we support, so to remove the credible challenge from the objective makes no sense. Even her boss is supporting this objective, which is a glaring red flag I need to get off this sinking ship.

I've currently got a lot of internal applications out there, and completed a few screen interviews this week for a chance at a face-to-face with perspective managers. I'm hoping I can get out of here over the next couple of months, otherwise I don't know if I'll make it that long before doing something detrimental to my job status.
