Re: Whiskey drinker's thread

I think I'll have a scotch and a cigar when I get home from work.

Come to think of it....my grandma used to drink whiskey and water for breakfast, maybe I won't wait.......

Nice surprise last night. Left my Jack and my buddy's last weekend and said don't drink it. Come over later, he says he drank it. Oh well, right? He smokes me up all the time... but then today he goes yeah we don't need to go to the store, I got a bottle of Jack. He wouldn't buy that so I was like.. that's mine! Fucker hid it from me. So I got to drink Jack again last night. It's soo fucking smooth.

Just bought some Maker's. I haven't really had any type of whiskey since I was in college, so hopefully I'll still enjoy it.

So since that last post I've tried Maker's and Knob Creek.

    Maker's >>> Knob Creek

I also just bought some Maccallan Scotch 10. It's damn good.

Maker's Ambassador here. I'm really hoping they send out some more of that christmas wrapping paper this year.

Maker's is the only one I'll mix, and then it's only with ginger ale. As far as favorites go, Jefferson's Reserve, Booker's, and Blanton's are my top three.

Funny, my liquor store guy talked me into a bottle of that like two years ago and I haven't put a dent in it. Didn't like it all that much.

I generally ho with Makers Mark at a bar. My favorite is Elijah Craig from a store, I also have bottles of Basil Hayden, Woodford Reserve, and Willie Nelsons brand (can't recall the name off the top of my head) on my shelf. Any of them are well appreciated; always neat though.

If you like Irish Whiskey... try:

Red Tail (Brilliantly smooth, subtle vanilla notes, a little floral.)

Powers (Its kind of the staple of IRISH whiskey. If you order a whiskey in Ireland, good chance this is what you are getting)

As for others.... Johnny Walker Blue, although a bit pricey, very good.

You can get blue at a decent price in some places. Pricey is Walker KGV or Quest that you can get commercially to an extent.

Unless of course you hit the lotto and wanted an anniversary special edition like the 200 ($3,500,000), 1805 ($25,000) or the relatively 'cheap' 150 ($2,000).

I recently went to a JW tasting, the best we got was the Excelsior for obvious reasons, honestly I wasn't all that impressed with any but the quest.

I went and bought a bottle of Four Roses last weekend. I'm not a huge drinker though, so I haven't done much work on it, not to mention my roommate talks shit to me, because apparently only middle-aged white people drink bourbon/whiskey (his words).

It is good though, in comparison to some of the other stuff I've had.

If I remember I may have some tonight.

Being a college student in Kentucky my weekend is flooded by cheap cheap bourbon such as Kentucky Gentleman and Jim Beam, when I'm home for the summer it's strictly Woodford Reserve or Makers Mark

just tried my first bottle of buffalo trace, the first pour was a little underwhelming, but after it had time to breath it really came alive.

very nice whiskey and easy on the wallet.

can't wait to compate it heads up to maker's.

inspired by listening to the song when i was at the liquor store last i bought a bottle of jim beam rye, to go along with my normal jack.....not impressed, dont know why anyone would sing a song about rye whiskey...furthermore im suprised this discussion never tearned to how ppl like their wiskey....for me its always half a rocks glass or about 2.5 shots hafta shoot it or sip, never mixed with a chaser on standby if needed, i get sick almost imediatly if i mix up a jack and coke but i can drink jack and chase it with coke all night with no problems

i had a friend get promoted and he got a bottle of jd single barrel, and he mixed it w coke.....why would you get single barrel if your going to mix it...enjoy the flavor.
