A Brandi Carlisle guest on that during the bands set would be nice. Seems more likely that Dave would guest with her during her opening set though, if anything.

i'd rather her not guest on spoon. the ingrid version is only like 4 minutes long. they cut off the jam. i'd rather no guest and have it be like cville. and if there is any guesting, it will likely be dave during her set.

They cut the jam because all the non-fan VIPs up front were talking and not paying attention. It had nothing to do with Ingrid being on stage. Dave ripped the crowd after the song too.

I vaguely remember hearing this on the tape. But I think he said something like, "If y'all wanna talk and everything, that's fine. As long as you're having a good time." Something along those lines. But I never took it as a stab at the audience.

The "we're just here for your entertainment" coupled Dave's tone led me to believe he wasn't all that pleased, but he was being pretty passive aggressive about it (remember, this is a guy who has a hard time telling acoustic show crowds to be quiet ).

I went back and listened to that performance of Spoon and the crowd is talkative as hell. So I would guess Dave was pretty pissed

Just from being a performer myself, I can't stand when people are talking while I'm playing but that's a given since people don't know who I am (yet). But you're at a freaking DMB concert. Its like why did you bother to pay for the damn ticket if you wanna talk the whole time. But from my understanding, I think that concert was free for a lot of the first responders and families of 9/11 victims.

Not sure about the 9/11 aspect, but it was part of the Stand Up to Cancer campaign, and the seats in the first four sections were very expensive and filled with VIP (Lindsay Lohan was there, among others). Needless to say it wasn't a typical DMB crowd, and I don't think Dave was too pleased with the lack of interest in the performance.

One of my best DMB concert stories ever-

I am working in NYC for 2 days that week, scheduled after concert sold out. I am staying in our corporate efficiency apt right across from the Empire State Building (about a block from MSG). I believe the concert is actually Thursday the day I need to fly home.

On way back to apartment I stop at Stout to grab a bite to eat and they're playing DMB, pregaming heavy. I'm in a suit and ask a kid about the show and he's like dude, its in about an hour! I'm like "you fucking idiot"... I scrounge through my pockets and find $133, which was way less than face value. I start scrounging the area and find this young hippie girl crying cause she doesn't have enough money, blah , blah... so I offer my money to a guy for her ticket and he just hands her one and walks away... I'm like

"Do you want your money? Do you have more tickets?!!"

Guy is like running away. I yell, "C'mon buddy, I'll buy a ticket if you have an extra!" He turns around and yells at me like 3x - "DO YOU NEED A TICKET??!?!? " and hands me the one I scanned in....

I'm like "FAKE" - I blame all you skeptics from DMBc


I run right in and it works!! No fucking way...

As I go in I am escorted to VIP were they bring me Jack Daniel's and kept it fresh all night.

Julia Roberts sat in front of me- she's fucking gorgeous and went nuts for Spoon. I was surrounded by yappers, it was annoying as all hell...

I recall Dave saying something about the talkers, cause I cheered...

Cool story. Just curious as to what made you think that ticket looked fake? Just the strangeness of the "guy", or the ticket itself? Looks pretty legit to me off hand, which of course, it was.

I'm out in front of MSG the night of a DMB concert, in a suit (in my mid 40's) trying to scalp a ticket for way less than face and a guy hands me a ticket that's really a comp VIP (like if I had a car valet parking came with it) ticket a few rows up off the floor about 8 rows back AT MSG??!!?

I'm not that lucky folks. Every stick I ever touched was stolen from me like my lunch money. I caught a pick once but only cause it hit me in my chest.... I really did not think it would scan me in....
