Ha, it is super lame. Downtown is alright. We have occasional bullshit happen there, but it's the exception not the rule. To me, its safe. I am downtown a good bit for work and I have never had an issue minus the spare change once in a while. It is walkable but it is spread out a bit. You can always go the opposite route and stay at the beach and catch a $40 Uber to and from and rage the beach bars.
