Re: The National
So I just read this lyric on their website, from All The Wine:
I'm put together beautifully Big wet bottle in my fist, big wet rose in my teeth I'm perfect piece of ass Like every Californian So tall I take over the street, with highbeams shining on my back A wingspan unbelievable I'm a festival, I'm a parade I think I have to listen to this now. |
Re: The National

It Never Happened:
Nothing made a sound in Williamstown that night and all the air was empty then what to my wondering eyes should appear nothing, cause nothing ever happens here Nice. |

Re: The National
another uninnocent, elegant fall into the unmagnificent lives of adults

Re: The National
I could SWEAR there was already a thread on The National here somewhere...but either way, they're awesome. And their live show is excellent. Def check them out if they come around near you.

Re: The National
yeah i think there was an alligator v. boxer thread, but then everyone thought it was an alligator fighting a boxer and the thread got hijacked.
anyways, love the national, alligator i think has better songs, while boxer flows better and is a better overall album. there are some songs i cant stand and i dont really like them live, im pretty sure its because he has a lot of trouble keeping that subdued, monotone voice when hes clearly so passionate about the song and tries to put more energy into them than on the album. there drummer, however, is my favorite thing about them, whenever i dont like a song, i just listen to him. top 5 band for me, easily. |
Re: The National
They're such a polarizing band for me. I either hate or love their songs, there's not much in between.

Re: The National
Terrible live band, but great studio band.

Re: The National
solid band. well crafted songs. the instruments seem like they are always perfectly layered.
about today= one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard. |
Re: The National
Holy fuck. I'm four songs into Alligator.
Karen, put me in a chair, fuck me and make me a drink I've lost direction, and I'm past my peak I'm telling you this isn't me No, this isn't me Karen, believe me, you just haven't seen my good side yet Whoa. :eek I haven't felt like this in a while. This is fun. |
Re: The National
i bought Boxer last summer and was into it for a while, but really only a handful of songs.
then i heard "start a war" on the radio today and it just clicked much better than it ever had in the past. i'm gonna have to see if i can find that disc again. |
Re: The National
I still think Matt Berninger sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much like Mark Knopfler.
