Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows (11.19.10 / 7.15.11)

Hey after all, the thread for The Dark Knight was started over a year before the movie came out, right? :D

Steve Kloves once again writing the adaptation, David Yates directing, and right now it's only a possibility that John Williams will return to do the score, whereas I thought I'd heard months ago that he was definitely in.

Mr. Ollivander - John Hurt

Dolores Umbridge - Imedla Staunton
Horace Slughorn - Jim Broadbent
Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody - Brendan Gleeson
Arthur Weasley - Mark Williams

Alan Rickman is the best thing about the films series.

Well I think the fact that they decided to make 2 films is a pretty good sign.

I think that decision was financially motivated. BUT, luckily, it will probably help artistically as well.

LEAKED TEASER TRAILER!!!! :hump:hump:hump:hump:hump:hump:hump:hump

http://linkninja.com.br/d57229

(FYI not great quality, this is the ole' "point the camera at the screen" deal)

I forget if I'd posted this in the regular HP thread, but I'd been wondering if we'd get the 1st teaser attached to Sherlock Holmes on Christmas, since they're both WB titles... perhaps this is an indication that will be so.

Isn't there supossed to be an "exclusive sneak peek" on the dvd/blu-ray of HBP next week? I think this is it. Looks good.

Oh that's right, good call. Yes I remember reading in the info for HBP it said "and see the first footage from DH" on the blu-ray (but I don't know if it's on the DVD as well). Yep this is probably it.

Yeah after watching it again it looks like someone is recording their tv and you can see the word "DVD" in the description. Now I'm excited though.

Also, for you HP enthusiasts with Blu-ray players, Wal-mart is supposed to have HBP on Blu-ray for $15 next week. Says so in their ad. Cheaper than the 2-disc dvd, that's for sure.

I lost interest in all of the movies/news after reading the last book. I'd like to read it again one of these days. I'll pick up Half-Blood Prince the day it comes out and not watch it til next summer. heh.

I've also seen that the studio has put together "Ultimate Edition" ones for the first 2 movies, but ONLY the first 2, with all new bonus features (yea there was 2 disc editions for the first 2 movies created way back when, but they were significantly geared towards kids, with the 2nd disc being dominated by interactive games and such instead of deleted scenes and docs, etc.. the more typical stuff that bonus features whores (me!:D) like to have). I mean as I don't have a Blu-Ray player yet obviously I wouldn't be getting them anyway, but I kinda feel like unless I was in a position where money was almost no object, well then I probably wouldn't bother with picking those up, because you just know for damn sure that maybe as early as Christmas 2011 (6 months after part 2 is out), there's gonna be a super duper, ultra mega special ultimate killer whale edition package of the entire series completed all 8 films in one on Blu-Ray, with monster special features and all that, so I'd be about getting that one.

Right. You mean this:

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...asMQCTq3L_.jpg

http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...pBL_SL500_.jpg

I think it's for the first 6 films with a slot for the last two.

I mean I'd recently seen (and in all regular English advertisement) a repackaged special edition version for both Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber Of Secrets on Blu-Ray, technically being called "Ultimate Editions", each with exclusive bonus features, part of which it looks like is one massive documentary, with a different portion sort of like chapters in each title.
And the other thing I was talking about obviously doesn't exist yet as the last 2 films aren't out for a good while, I was just saying that once both parts of Deathly Hallows are out and getting to where they'd be on video, you have to assume the studio will be packaging an incredible boxed set of all 8 films at once, probably with even more extras exclusive just to that.

def. financial, but at the same time this would have to be a 4-5 hr movie if done right...breaking the movie into 2 parts benefits the studio AND the fans, and thats rare

Umm, did you miss where this has been pretty much a global phenomenon and talked about ever since it first started back in like 1999? :lol

And I take it you've never even cracked a single one of the books. Well, I just feel a little sorry for you that you apparently can't appreciate the amazing and multi-layered storytelling here for what it is. Not saying that makes you less than, not at all, different strokes for different folks, but this is real quality material.

Tonight, we watched the Sorcerer's Stone on TV. Great movie, and it's crazy to see how much those kids have grown since this first film.

Agreed, a very special case where it's both. And, Steve Kloves already said awhile back, the split between the two isn't at a place where most people were most are probably expecting, and producer David Heyman said just recently that he'd categorize part 1 as something of a good old fashioned "road movie", and part 2 is a thrilling adventure tail really digging in deep with the battle of Hogwarts. So, do all the math there... well presuming that preview indeed only shows footage from Part 1, we know then that the split doesn't occur until at least they're rescued from Malfoy Manor and then bury Dobby at Bill & Fleur's. I'm figuring it'll be either right before or right after the Gringotts robbery.

And you may remember of course the studio was toying with this "split into 2 parts" idea all the way back with Order Of The Phoenix, obviously it being the longest book of the series, but of course ultimately decided against it. I've got no problem at all with us getting 2 movies out of this. I'm just hoping it doesn't mean each one will "only" come out to be like 1:45 each or something. Both halves better at the very least be 2 hours.

ive mentioned several times to friends and on ants that i think part 1 will end with Harry burying Dobby, and looking out over the water at what will be coming next

i try to forget about this bullshit. its really annoying having it shoved down your throat. i've been listening to this HP shit for literally half my life. i read the first book when i was in 7th grade. im going to graduate from freaking COLLEGE before these movies are done.

i read the first book and saw the first movie. didn't care for either of them and don't want to be bothered with them anymore.
