Mad Men
Did a search and found nothing. Anyone watch this show on AMC? My buddy has the first season on DVD and I watched the first 3 episodes yesterday. It's already won 3 Golden Globes and came out in July 2007. Very cool show. It's like Entourage but more geared toward adults. If you interested in the advertising world, like I am, it's a fascinating show. It also has a lot of great, subtle humor.

Re: Mad Men
Good stuff getting through season one right now.

Re: Mad Men
My dad gets GQ and Esquire magazines and they both rave about this show. I've been wanting to see it.

Re: Mad Men
I will probably start watching this after I get through The Wire. I do TV one at-a-time, the only way I can keep up with a series is if I start it by watching the DVDs.

Re: Mad Men

Re: Mad Men
This is one of the best shows currently on TV, along with Dexter.

Re: Mad Men
This show is realistic and true to life like The Wire. I love it... especially because it's about advertising.

The characters drink scotch in the office, chain smoke cigarettes and womanize, which seems to be a product of their occupation and the time. So they party and have money...is that where you see the connection? Great show though...terrific acting. I hope that season 3 is better than 2 though...thought it was somewhat of a letdown after season 1. |
Re: Mad Men
Picked up the first season from the library and working my way through now. Great stuff.

Re: Mad Men
I had so much about this show and how great it was, so I just watched the first 2 episodes of season 1 tonight and I am already hooked. Amazing show :thumbsup
And doesn't season 3 start like tomorrow night? |
Re: Mad Men
Season 3 starts on Sunday night.
I frickin love this show! |
Re: Mad Men
Amazing show, stunned there wasn't a thread for it already....

Re: Mad Men
Can't wait for the new season to start. I might need a Draper avatar.

Re: Mad Men
I'm a big fan of this show too, pumped that the new season starts this Sunday.

Re: Mad Men
One of the best things on TV right now.

Re: Mad Men
I'm about halfway through season 2 right now. It's a good show, well made and written, but I don't think its one of the best shows of the last 20 years as has been said.
I feel like the Sopranos did, they stretch stuff out. It's like they have a 10 episode story that they tell over 13 episodes. Don and Roger are the best characters. However I'm torn with this show because there's absolutely no character that I can really root for. They're all terrible human beings. |

Re: Mad Men
Its a good show. I've only seen the first 3 or 4 episodes and am trying to catch up in time for the new season. I've got a long way to go, but I'll at least be DVRing the new episodes so I can watch them whenever.
|
Re: Mad Men
Possibly the best show on television.

Re: Mad Men
My avatar should say it all. I love the show. Can't wait for tonight. I still have 3 episodes to re-watch tonight of season 2 to be fully caught up (even though I watched them last year).
|
Re: Mad Men
Great episode tonight. Thoughts? I like the direction of the new season....
|
Re: Mad Men
DVR'ed it, can't wait to watch it tonight. Too bad AMC HD isn't coming in for some reason, I had to dvr it in standard definition.

I wasn't really blown away by this episode. I liked a lot of it, but the fire alarm scene was not well done - way too convenient/contrived, especially since that was 2 seasons in the making. But at the same time it's good that that is out of the way now, because this show really isn't about people finding things out, it's more about how their motivations and reactions to events - in my opinion. I liked Don's less-than-subtle way to tell Sal both to be more discreet and that Don was not likely to say anything to anyone. Also, I'm not sure how I felt about the play-like first scene and how Don was daydreaming events he did not experience. I did like how easily Don was able to create a scene for Betty and later inhabit a different persona for the stewardess, but could not recall the circumstances of his daughters birth. |
Re: Mad Men
I enjoyed last night, but it sucks not being able to watch in HD when you watched the last 2 seasons on Blu-Ray leading up to last night.
