2012 NFL Off-Season Thread

For all of us non-Pats/G-Men fans (Good luck to both teams this week, yes I'm jealous), I know it's a week early but it seems like every off-season thread starts a week early. It's always the off-season for me as a Skins fan.

Anyways, lets start this with the biggest news...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvWHN...layer_embedded (Nike NFL commercial)

We all know that Nike has outbid Reebok and will now be the manufacturer of NFL uniforms.

They are unveiling each layer at a time. Gloves this week: http://www.solecollector.com/niketraining/?p=6831

The players can wear these tonight for the pro bowl. They released the base layers a few weeks ago.

Either way... Here's to another entertaining Redskins off-season. :lol

I hate Nike. Can't wait to see what abortions they come up for the NFL.

There's a ton of speculation. But I think I remember reading that the NFL has strict 5 year rules on uniforms. As in it's up to teams and the NFL what jerseys look like so hopefully their isn't some drastic to change to what the uniforms actual color scheme looks like.

I mean I can't imagine if Tom Brady ran out in this on Sunday...

Apparently we got a new logo. Sweet. Unless it's just for these gloves...

I cannot see them doing anything real dumb with most teams. I think they did away with the 5 year rule for next season, because some of the Reebok designs won't work with the Pro Combat line.

For football talk, the Steelers should trade Ben and Mendy to Indy for Luck and a pick.

Well then we're screwed. Can't wait to pull for Robert Griffin in his new Oregon Redskin uniform. :lol

If the Steelers would just go back to the old block numbers, I'd be on board with Nike.

I actually like the helmet with the hypocycloids by themselves rather than the USWA logo.

I'm excited to see how this #1 pick goes. Do you really think there is an outside chance that someone trades that far up?

I'm sure I am having a brain fart, but USWA?

I think they'd be fine. The teams who are going to have to change are the teams like the Cards, Falcons, and Vikings who have the piping and color blocking down the side.

I'm sure some other teams will change for the sake of changing too. It will be like when Reebok took over the NHL a few years back, where some teams change drastically, some change a little bit to fit the uniforms, and some teams stay the same.

The Steelers logo is actually just a logo developed by US Steel with "ers" added to it. I was always told it was a United Steelworkers of America logo, but I guess it was USX.

I think someone will make a run, but I don't think Indy bites. I'm just sick of Ben, and Indy seems to be building Steelers west out there.

You've always stuck by Ben... what changed and when? Did I miss something?

I'm sick of Ben, and I see a chance to gain some value. Not sure how that's schtick.

They just hired those 2's biggest cheerleader. It's far fetched, but not completely insane.

:lol:lol Agreed.

Why would you want a banged up, almost 30 year old quarterback and a running back coming off a torn ACL for arguably the most hyped player coming out of college of all-time (or at least the last few decades)?

Yes, yes it is.

Indy seems set on keeping the pick. Jonathan is right. Something ridiculous like 4 #1s and a few #2s might do it. Maybe.

Isnt Ben on a huge contract? Luck is going to be insanely cheap. No way they take a veteran and the huge contract when they can get a better QB (in a while) for a MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper tag.

Re: 2012 NFL Off-Season Thread

Most of Ben's deal is already paid by the Steelers I believe.
