What about NYC?

Also, did you get my PM last night?

hopefully my cousin's wedding doesn't happen this weekend. as long as that's not a problem and i can get the time off work (provided i even get a job by then), i should be able to make it. NYC is a maybe, depending on how AC goes.

i'm excited for some DMB this summer though.

but it'll be 3 shows, so you'll be fine.

Assuming they all have different lineups, I think this one will be the best. Judging from everything I've read, it sounds like they've got big plans for this "event".

but AC is the only festival we actually know of happening. AC has local government documents approving of this for a certain date. other could have big plans too, but we're just not hearing about them.

Borgata is really the way to go if you're staying down there.

Luckily my family's shore house is a mere 45 minutes away, and I will be staying there for free. :)

atlanticcityhotels.com

borgata wants over 800 for 3 nights. that is outragous and completely irrrational.

probably gonna bum a friend's beach house for that weekend, seeing DMB at night and spending the day on the beach, what more could i want?

i'll be there.

probably new york too, this one is more expensive though since i can take the train in and out of NYC all 3 nights.

Not bad if you have 4 to a room, or if you actually play there because you'll almost certainly be able to get Sunday free.

But, again, I won't be paying to stay anywhere this time around.

since there's no gov. island thread yet.

what's y'alls opinion on the place as far as seeing a show, and getting to and from.

Hard to say, as they've never done one there. However, based on previous festivals at large open spaces (farms, airfields, etc), as well as RLM/Starr Hill's involvement, I expect it to be professionally set up and well run.

As for getting there, there's a couple options to get to AC. I'll be driving, but they also have a train from Manhattan (which is a bit pricey but quite convenient). I have no idea how they'll handle parking at the venue though, because the lot is pretty small and there's not much around it. That said, I would guess that the casinos will be running shuttles to and from the show for their guests.

i will also be driving to AC, it's a straight shot down the parkway for me.

i was referring to gov. island as far as getting to and from. my friend is tentative about going due to the ferry and all that.

Re: *** Official Atlantic City 2011 Thread ***

This show is gonna be so expensive for me. Figure if the passes for the weekend are $200, I would spend at least $430 on tickets (one for me and one for whoever I drag along with me since none of my friends really like DMB :O) PLUS about $300 for 3 nights (if I find a cheap hotel, could be much more than $300) so that's about $1,000 almost I would be spending. Did I mention I have about $140 to my name at the moment? I'm going to be working like a maaaadddd man. But hey, definitely should be worth it!!!!

PLUS, I might go to the NYC shows too since well, another $430 for tickets, but no hotel costs b/c I can just get on a train and sleep at my sisters for the nights. Still, gonna be working non stop. So lets see, work a lot, go to school, get homework done....hmmm...shiiittttt

Re: *** Official Atlantic City 2011 Thread ***

its all gonna come down to the price of the tickets for the event itself. if its over 275, i may skip. thats just too much money.

We're only staying Friday and Saturday (driving back to Baltimore Sunday) and I booked way back when the rumors started so got a room for $229 per night. Still a bit high, but it is a really nice hotel and there are 3 of us in the room (maybe 4).

They have the best beds... that was the deal breaker for me. Plus the 24th is my boyfriends birthday, so I figured what the hell.

AC Hotels are such a rip off. Especially during the summer on a weekend. It doesn't even make sense to pay what they want.

I totally agree! The part that flusters me the most is that I'll be there just 2 weekends before that for a trade show and paid $70 per night at the same freaking hotel.

Lame.

I'm looking at hotels about 15-20 minutes away and it averages out to about $80 a night. I hope they have shuttles from the casinos to the shows because that would lessen the inevitable clusterfuck.
