Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
I rarely post...hope you don't mind....
This playlist and venue on June 1, 2009 is coming of age and elemental dmb. One the bands best works..... Great versions of You Might Die Trying and So Damn Lucky just sayin' |
Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
That's debatable

Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
I was in the bathroom at Beacon during YMDT. Hate that song.

Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
that set is rough as hell
|
Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
I remember during the encore break, the MC that FUSE had was like "Can you believe that set?!?! Wow!"...and I was like...yeah, actually I can :lol

Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
I didn't watch this for the first time until last month. I didn't want seeing the songs on the broadcast to spoil listening to the record on vinyl for the first time the next day.
I set my DVR so I could watch it after, but it was full, so it didn't record it. It's still up on Hulu and I watched it about a month ago. Must've been cool to see DMB stateside in such a small venue for those who were there. |
Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
That show is garbage
|
Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
I would still kill to see DMB at the Beacon, or any small room, but this set was pretty disappointing.

Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
The show was fun to be at and it was a good show. Was Dave's voice shot? Yup. Was the set pretty weak? Yup. Did I still have a great time? Yup. It is what it is. It was seeing DMB in a small venue for the first time in a long while. Nothing more, nothing less.

Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
I didn't listen to any of the leaked songs or spring shows, just to hear them for the first time. I enjoyed it, but as others have said, Dave's voice was not good and there were a few too many of my piss-break songs included. That being said, still had a blast in 4th row in that little theater.

Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
what did people expect the set to be? it was an album debut concert for Big Whiskey....they weren't going to play Before These Crowded Streets.
|
Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
I still re-watch this show from time to time. It is very good IMO. The ASTB->Too Much (tease)->Ants is awesome. Jeff kills it on #41. And at the time, having not heard the BW songs repeatedly, even those were very entertaining. I have grown to love YMDT. Sadly, I will never be a big fan of Out of My Hands. Bleh.

Re: Two Years Later: Beacon Theatre NYC
Oddly enough this is my favorite Rye Whiskey...
Dave's voice is totally shot, but for some reason, I thought it was awesome. AS for those who didnt like the setlist.... ummm what were you looking for in a concert release party? |

It was fun seeing DMB in such a small room, and I really enjoyed Dreaming Tree and a few others, but overall the show itself was pretty lackluster.

Funny The Way It Is
Alligator Pie Spaceman ...> Corn Bread Seven Out of My Hands Why I Am The Dreaming Tree You Might Die Trying Everyday Sister looks like a real quality/consistant first hour to start this show. why was OOMH played? :lol seems so random |

I dont think its the quality of the album, more of the fact that Dave loves shoving whatever music he feels like playing down the fan base's collective throat. I just saw a poll that asked what song people wanted to have return at GI. Loving Wings AND PFWYG were losing to ABI. Thats only because ABI hasnt been played in a while. If BW hadnt been shoved down our throats, people wouldnt mind a setlist like that as much. I personally like the album... but im sick of hearing the same shit. |
