Best DMB Era

I left it as multiple choice, so if your favorite years are a run (98-04) you can select those years, or any other run that is your favorite.

1992-1993 (Peter)
1994-1997
1998-2001 (Butch, Ladies)
2002-2004 (Butch)
2005-2007 (Butch, Rashawn)
2008 - (Until Roi’s Passing - Butch, Rashawn, Tim)
2008 (After Roi’s Passing - Butch, Rashawn, Tim, Jeff)
2009-2012 (Rashawn, Tim, Jeff)
2013 (Rashawn, Tim, Jeff)
2014 (Two Sets) (Rashawn, Tim, Jeff, some Ladies)

With only 10 options for a poll, I tried to split this up as best I could. Any members/long term guests who are outside of the core (Dave, Roi, Carter, Boyd, Stefan) I put in parenthesis.

But these options were the best I could come up with.

Went with '98-'01. Band sounded TIGHT then

Very observant, yes, I have. I enjoy discussing things at a discussion forum designed for discussion. :thumbsup

Don't you hate that when people start relevant discussions on a discussion forum?

EDIT: :lol didn't even notice your very similar response, Chad.

93-00 is the best, with 96-00 as the "golden era," but chose 94-97 for the poll.

Why did you separate 09-12, 13 and 14? It's all the same era.

I would imagine because 13 had a lot of stand out shows compared to those other years, and 14 was "two-sets." Votes for any of them are insane regardless.

98-01 for me

I could see how some people could justify voting for 2013. There were some pretty special shows that year.

Yeah, it was just the easiest way to do it with the limited options. I wanted to split 2014 since "two sets" seemed to start a new style, and it was how I kinda broke everything down with the 10 options I had. And as mentioned, 2013 was kind of stand out compared to 2012, so I didn't wanna group it with 09-12.

Wish I could have split '11 due to the Caravans.

I'd have to agree... even though the band still sounds GREAT and they seem to be in a wonderful place in their careers, there's too much SU, BW and AFTW dreck in the setlists to be in the running for the band's "best era".

June 2013 was a great month! Was lucky to see 5 shows that month including the two best IMO (Hartford N1, Camden N2). Still, 2013 as the best ERA of DMB ever? Can't get on board with that at all! (I know you weren't say it was)

The sets may have been good, but it's still the same harder, rock driven sound they've been going for since 2009.

You don't have to use all 10 options.

You don't have to use all 10 options.

I made it multiple choice, so if people are into the 09-now era they can click all of those boxes. I just tried to split it as best I could with common start/stop points when people associate them at their best

Two sets are not an era. Neither were the caravans.

Maybe era was a bad phrase - should have said "best DMB years". That's my mistake.

Correct answer is 98-00. 01 can go fuck itself and shove Everyday up it's own ass.

Why the fuck is 1998 lumped with 2001? This is silly.

I have no idea what your issue is with me or why you feel the need to come after me in every thread I make, but I don't have any issues with you or anything, so it would be cool if you could relax a little bit. If you don't like the threads I post or anything, you don't have to post in them. I don't see why it's important for you to come in and start in on me all the time. I don't do it to you, so no need to do it to me.

Or maybe he enjoys a new and current DMB discussion....

For someone who is trashing it, you seem to be lurking on the thread quite a bit.

I assume we're talking live, not studio? Studio 94-2000.

Live for me is 98-04, but not including 2001. Band was playing great then but just too much Everyday in the sets. And too much Lovely Ladies. It did produce some all time great live versions though, like Soldier Field Grey Street from 7/7 and Seek Up from SPAC.
