Metallica 30 year Aniversary gigs- San Francisco- December

four nights- Dec 5,7,9,10- Lottery style drawn through fan club only. If you win all four nights- costs $19.81 for ALL 4 gigs- also can win individual nights- just 6 bucks per show.

I just joined their fan club for this as been a big fan over the years (early stuff) and were my fav band as a teenager.

Anyone here thinking bout trying to hit this up?

Sounds cool. I'd expect them to go the DMB and the Dead route and try to squeeze in as many different songs as they can. Maybe a Newsted guest as well.

Q-Prime Management for the win, leaps and bounds better than anything Coran/DMB could come up with. :thumbsup

Maybe they'll finally perform Frayed Ends of Sanity in it's entirely, hell, maybe they'll finally play Escape.

Jason gave his heart and soul to that band and they ripped it out. This is really cool of the guys to do. People always rip on Metallica for being greedy (and i'm sure rightfully so), but there aren't many bands out there who perform for a living and don't want to be compensated for their art. Hell, the Grateful Dead refused to step on to the stage at Woodstock before being paid. Look it up.

Yeah if Fayed Ends ever gets played, it's going to be at one of those. Escape wont ever be played cause James hates it.

I still can't get over them playing (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth a few years back. Would have loved to have heard Cliff dominate this beautiful instrumental piece in person. I kind of lost interest in the band once Jason left, and although Robert is a great musician, he just doesn't fit the old school Metallica vibe to me. If only I lived in the Bay area :BANG I kind of hope they practice some of the Garage Inc covers like Sabbra Cadabera, Mercyful Fate, Loverman, etc.

I saw Cliff solo with this twice. It was memorable, if for nothing other than the fact that he had his hair twirling like a madman.

I miss the old days sometimes....

Did you catch them on the Ozzy tour when they were supporting Puppets?

Saw them on the Ride the Lightning tour with WASP, and then on the Masters tour with Ozzy.

This is what got me into Nick Cave, and he's now one of my all time favourite artists. You ever hear there original? It's pretty fucking sick, I love it:

I can't believe Metallica opened up for WASP once upon a time. You lucky bastard :lol

It was actually the other way around. First was Armored Saint, then WASP, and then Metallica. Saw them at a club in GB in 1985.

Yes I am that old. :lol

Re: Metallica 30 year Aniversary gigs- San Francisco- December

Ahhh that makes sense. I knew WASP got pretty popular with their debut album, so I just thought they would have been the headliner. But by 85 I guess Metallica had started to explode in the mainstream Heavy Metal circuit.

Yes, I am. I would love to go to even one of the gigs. The Fillmore would be an amazing place to see them.

They should oversell it by, like, a hundred people just to make everyone pack in there a little tighter. \m/

They're playing at the end of August in San Fran at the Salesforce.com annual user conference. I don't think it gets much worse than that.

Doesn't matter to me though. Boss is sending me to the conference, so I'll be attending the show.

I fail to see anything wrong with this...

Metallica gets such a horrible rep because of the stupid Napster thing (which they were completely in the right on anyway) but they do and always have treat their loyal fans great. I mean come on, tiny club shows for fan club members only with $6 tickets?! I guarantee you'll never see DMB do something like that.

Thank you! That whole Napster thing was like 10-11 years ago. It was all about control not greed anyways. They def treat their fans well, meet and greets every single show being a good example

What's wrong with that? Bands make their living by playing gigs. It's their job. You're going to the conference because you're getting paid to do it, also.
