Best Venue for the Tour?

I've decided to travel to a Dave & Tim show this year and was wondering what people's thoughts were on which venue is the best. I would say major factor is the intimacy level of the venue. I live in Chicago so think polar opposite of NI.

Thanks!

If you're looking for a weekend trip, the obvious picks are spac or nashville

Going with SPAC or Philly. Both for different but valid reasons

Re: Best Venue for the Tour?

Not speaking from personal experience because I've never been to the amp in Nashville, but from everything I'm seeing on here and just personal research it looks extremely intimate. Coupled with a great location and view, I'm all in.

Biased but Nashville is the winner this year.

Great/small venue, walking distance from Broadway, Dave hasn't been here in eight years and Nashville is a great destination for those who travel. Get excited.

I don't believe this... just because that's what the almanac says doesn't mean it's true..."I read it on the internet"

Are you saying that's not the capacity of the venue? Or that they'll section off parts of it, making it smaller, for D&T?

Re: Best Venue for the Tour?

Better question is where D&T will play the best show/ setlist. Still guessing Nashville and Spac. With a Lil sprinkle of Mann Philly.

The Fair Grounds Race Course will have the best food of any D&T venue this year.

Exactly why I am driving 5 hours out of my way. It doesn't hurt that Nashville is a place I have always wanted to visit

Re: Best Venue for the Tour?

SPAC gets great setlists every singe year for DMB, no reason to think it won't be a homerun for D+T. Nashville is a great music city, however it doesn't have as solid of a track record for setlists.

That whole dynamic is so strange to me. I'd love to know the thought process behind what goes into "this venue or city will get our best material".

That seems silly considering they haven't been here in eight years. Looking at the old Starwood setlists the worst shows happened during the Stand Up era anyway (2005/2006)

I would take this 2004 set at any show

100% gonna be the Truth! Yes Nashville will be a smaller capacity show and Tickets prob the hardest of tour. BUT Spac at the end of both two night stands will have the better of the two setlist. Spac every year gets better and better somehow, Dave loves Saratoga, Period! Stop!

Truth. That place was a shit show for the full band. Amazing backdrop, but might be the worst lawn I've ever been on.

It's something that inspires creativity in the band. Maybe it's the venue/surroundings, maybe it's a band member's personal experiences there, or just more crowd energy (which SPAC, Alpine, Gorge, etc. always bring).

You can also look at a tour and often tell which shows will be better. If they break for more than 5 or so days, they often play it safe with the setlist. If they are exhausted, you may get bustouts from too many shows close together, but their playing won't be as tight or Dave's voice will be shot (see Gorge N3 from almost any year)
